Lake Louisa Hike

Lake Louisa is a beautiful state park that is only a few miles from our house. There are a lot of activities and things to do at the park like hiking trails, horseback riding, kayaking, and camping. There is always a good selection of wildlife to see and I particularly like seeing the gopher tortoises. They dig out dens that are used by all kinds of animals and are an incredibly important species.

Since I already ran in the morning, I did one of the smaller trails called the Exercise Trail. The trail is a little short of 2 miles.

Even though it is a short hike, there is a lot of different diversity in the environments. There are a few workout stations, but they don’t look super sturdy and not really why I like this trail. Almost every time I have walked the trail I have seen a gopher tortoise. While it is protected, there seems to be an abundance of dens that have been made in the park.

One of the reasons I came out to the park was because I wanted to test out some of the navigation and course options for the Fenix 7x. I uploaded the Exercise Trail to Garmin this afternoon and wanted to see how it functioned. The watch has multiple faces including a drag feature so you can see what is up ahead. I can’t wait to upload more trails and hit some of the state parks to do some more hiking.
